A National Historic Site and featured as a unique historic town and vacation spot in numerous travel writer articles, Eagles Mere, elevation 2,100 feet, in the “Endless Mountains” of Northeastern Pennsylvania, was developed in the 1800’s as a resort for wealthy Philadelphians. They came to the mountain for the cool clean air and crystal clear waters of the mile long lake. They build turn of the century Victorian “cottages”. The cottagers loved the unspoiled beauty and serenity of this peaceful oasis so much that they placed much of the land intothe protective stewardship of a Lake Association and Nature Conservancy.
The town has specialty Shops, a remarkable Bookstore, an old fashioned Sweet Shop, and outstanding Museum, a Private Golf Club, Quintessential Country Inns and Cottage Rentals. Eagles Mere remains much the same as it did years ago when the pace of life was more peaceful and less stressful. Eagles mere-”the last unspoiled resort”, now waits for you!
For me, Eagles Mere is one of the last unspoiled vacation spots in the East.
